The stories might be different, but I believe only slightly. Caesar was 52 I believe when he traveled to Egypt and became enamored with the then 21 year old Cleopatra. Life spans were not extremely long in those days and even if Caesar had not been assassinated than he still would of most likely died sooner than Cleopatra which would’ve allowed a power hungry Octavian with the chance to try and gain power as he ultimately did. Cleopatra charmed Marc Antony on their first meeting after Caesar had been killed. Cleopatra was believed to be so charming that regardless of whether Caesar had lived or not I believe Antony would’ve still been taken by her. Their affair just might have happened secretly or after Caesar died of old age. She would’ve still been young enough to continue a love life probably and she would’ve still had a desire to rule probably.
Of course. Supposing Caesar lived longer, the importance Marc Anthony fades away. It is not unlikely August would have succeeded Caesar directly as heir, given a few more years. There wouldn’t have been a civil war.
But…
August didn’t like Cleopatra one little bit. If no civil war had happened, he might not have needed the Egyptian treasure to pay for it. But I think he would have conquered Egypt nevertheless.
I don’t know. It’s the what if questions about history that really intrigue me. I don’t think it think it would change much. Most of Gaul was already conquered and Cleopatra wasn’t needed too much longer.
i think it would. wasnt she with octavian/augustus? if she was, then it would completely change because Octavian would probably never even get to rule…..but idk
